Mr. Gerald Phares Mwing’a.

RESEARCH OFFICER

Gerald Phares Mwing’a is a Research Officer in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, working with the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), Dodoma Centre, Tanzania. He holds an MSc in Epidemiology and Applied Biostatistics from the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College and a BSc in Statistics from the University of Dodoma. He has over 9 years of working experience with five years working in the Local Government

Authority (LGA), and over four years in health-related research.

He conducts research across a broad spectrum of public health areas, including diarrheal diseases, tuberculosis (TB), neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), non-communicable diseases (NCDs), maternal and child health, human dignity, spatial health statistics, and health systems. He has contributed to the advancement of public health knowledge through peer-reviewed publications (https://orcid.org/0009000950103116) and the development of policy briefs. He has vast experience in quantitative data analysis using Stata and R software. He is passionate about learning new statistical techniques and emerging technologies to solve public health challenges. He previously worked at the Local Government Authority as an economist, coordinating data collection, integrating community initiatives into annual plans and budgets, and monitoring and evaluating the Council’s projects, including health-related projects.
