Mabenga Peter

RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Mabenga Peter is a Research Assistant who works at the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), Amani Medical Research Centre. He has over 5 years of public health research experience, and his main areas of interest are disease vectors biology, ecology and control. He currently works on different public health research projects involving the evaluation of the effectiveness and efficacy of different disease prevention and control interventions including Mass drug Administration (MDA), Insecticide treated mosquito nets (ITNs) and Indoor residual Spraying (IRS) in Laboratory, semi field and community trials settings, detecting and monitoring of Insecticide resistance to disease vectors, vectors entomological surveillance and elimination mapping for Malaria, Onchocerciasis, Lymphatic Filariasis and arboviral diseases in mainland Tanzania. He is committed to enhancing community health outcomes and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design and execute evidence-based interventions, as well as supporting the Neglected Tropical Disease Control Program (NTDCP). His approach integrates data-driven decision-making to inform policy and practice in the fight against neglected tropical diseases and other vector-borne diseases.

Mabenga is also a Co-investigator and large community trials supervisor and logistician on ongoing collaborative research projects. He holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). He is currently pursuing an MSc in Medical Parasitology at the University of Zambia (UNZA), School of Health Sciences in Lusaka, Zambia.
