Dk. Godfrey Martin Mubyazi

CHIEF RESEARCH OFFICER

Dr. Godfrey Martin Mubyazi is a Chief Research Officer in the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), Tanzania. He has a BA (Economics, Hons.) from the University of DSM, having majored in “Industrial and Production Economics”; M.A (Health Management, Planning & Policy), from the University of Leeds (UK); Diploma (Research Methodology) from DBL-Centre for Health Research & Development (Denmark); MBA (Accounting & Finance) from Kampala International University; and PhD (Health Sciences) from the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). Having joined NIMR in 1996, he has developed a sound experience in research and consultancy activities.

He has demonstrable abilities for mentoring and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students. His impressive record on publications in peer review journals demonstrates the knowledge and skills he has. He also has team leadership skills, being a principal leader of several research and consultancy projects, head of department, and Trade Union (RAAWU) Chair in NIMR for 10 years. His research and publication works have focused mainly on economics, financing, policy and governance dimensions of health, with special interest in health systems, gender equality, human rights and social determinants of health aspects. Most of his disease-related publications focus on malaria and HIV/AIDS, although he has also researched and published on TB and Lymphatic/Bancroftian Filariasis, also with a continued interest in non-communicable diseases including those of genetic nature like sickle cell and the non-genetic ones like diabetes, hypertension, mental disorders, cancers and oral/dental ones.
