Dr. Alfredi A. Moyo

RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Dr. Alfredi A. Moyo is a Research Assistant at the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), Mabibo Traditional Medicine Research Centre. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Chemistry and Biology, Second Upper-Class Honours, 2014) from the University of Dar es Salaam and a Master’s degree in Traditional Medicine Development (First-Class Honours, 2020) from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS). Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Shivaji University in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. Dr. Moyo’s research focuses on natural products chemistry, with a particular interest in isolating and characterizing bioactive compounds from plants, algae, fungi, and other biological resources. He has authored 14 peer-reviewed scientific publications, which are available on ResearchGate and Google Scholar.

With a strong background in both research and education, Mr. Moyo has supervised two undergraduate and two master’s students as a co-supervisor. He is skilled in the use of advanced analytical techniques and instrumentation, including ^13C and ^1H NMR, GC-MS, FT-IR, HPLC, LC-MS, XRD, TEM, SEM, and XPS.

He has received multiple prestigious national and international recognitions for his scientific work. These include: NIMR Prize (2020) – Best final-year student in research during master’s studies, 2nd Place Oral Presentation (2021) – International Conference of Academic Institutions, Ahmedabad, India, 1st Place Oral Presentation (2023) – International Conference on Recent Trends in Pure and Applied Sciences, Maharashtra, India and 1st Place Oral Presentation (2024) – National Conference on Recent Trends in Chemical Sciences Research (RTCSR-2024), Beed, India
