Mr. Abel Michael Mdemu is a Research Officer at the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), based at the Mabibo Traditional Medicine Research Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. A pharmaceutical scientist, his work focuses on the scientific validation of traditional remedies through pre-clinical studies, formulation development, and quality standardization of herbal medicines.

Mr. Mdemu holds a Master of Science in Pharmacy, with a specialization in Drug Development and Quality Control, equipping him with advanced expertise in evaluating the safety, efficacy, and therapeutic potential of plant-based products.

His current research involves leading a project on the formulation of a proprietary herbal tea designed as a complementary therapy for non-communicable diseases (NCDs). This innovation aims to integrate traditional medicine with conventional healthcare to support holistic and accessible treatment options.
