Ms. Yolanda Mbatia is a bioinformatician working with the National Institute for Medical Research in Dar es Salaam since 2007. Her area of research has mainly been on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.
Ms. Mbatia has a Master of Science degree in Bioinformatics from Dublin City University in Ireland and a Bachelor of Science with Education degree from Makerere University. She is hard working research scientists with a vast experience in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Ms. Mbatia was the head of Environmental Health Management and Safety Research Unit from 2012 to 2020, Infection Control Africa Network and WHO. Ms. Mbatia has also attended Biosafety trainings in Tanzania and in China.
she participated in several health research activities and consultancy. Ms. Mbatia was part of the research team of the National Sanitation Campaign “Nyumba ni choo” across Tanzania. Ms. Mbatia is currently a research officer of the Environmental Health Management and Safety Research Section. Ms. Mbatia was a Principal Investigator of a project titled “Expanding the MTUMBA Model: Creating a product for scale up” in Geita region, Tanzania; the project was funded by DFID as part of the SHARE research programme, at LSHTM, From 2015 to2016.
