Dr. Veneranda M. Bwana is a Senior Research Scientist (Public Health and Epidemiology) of the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), Tanzania. At NIMR, she is the Deputy Quality Assurance Manager for the NIMR Amani Laboratory. She holds a PhD in Public Health of the University of Zambia, Lusaka, and MSc in Public Health and Epidemiology of Umeå University, Sweden. She is a graduate of Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She is a public health professional and clinical research expert with over 15 years of health research experience mainly in HIV, Tuberculosis, malaria, and non-communicable diseases. She has published over 21 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals. She has been involved in clinical and public health research funded by Global Funds for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; Pfizer; International Development and Research, Canada (IDRC); Centre for Diseases Control (CDC), US and Korea National Institute of Health. She is currently pursuing a Post-doctoral fellowship at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), Tanzania. Her Post-doctoral fellowship is focusing on measuring the psychosocial outcomes and health-related quality of life among perinatally HIV-infected children in Tanzania and is funded by the National Institute of Health (Fogarty International Center), USA.
