Dr Kijakazi Mashoto was trained as Dentist but later became Epidemiologist and Public Health Specialist. Her interests include health service research, implementation sciences and operational research. She coordinates, promote and conduct health research, and help innovators protect and commercialize intellectual property generated from health research activities. She has served as Head of Policy Analysis and Advocacy Department in the past, but currently she is leading the Section of Innovation, Commercialization and Technology Transfer at the National Institute for Medical Research.
As Principal Research Officer, she is responsible for supervising, mentoring, coaching and training other senior and junior research officers so as to help them achieve their personal and professional goals. Apart from conducting health research, she coordinates implementation of institution’s intellectual property policy and serve as consultant for assessment and evaluation of various health interventions. She has published a number of peer reviewed manuscripts in various journals
