Dr. Ernest Mazigo is a molecular biologist with over six years of research experience in malaria and other vector-borne diseases, specializing in surveillance, diagnostics, and the application of molecular and serological technologies. He has contributed to research, teaching, and the implementation of malaria control programs in collaboration with national research institutions, ministries of health, academic institutions, and non-governmental organizations across Africa. His expertise spans vector biology, pathogen and human genetics, drug resistance, immunoparasitology, parasite culture, and diagnostic development. He is proficient in a range of molecular techniques, including genotyping, sequencing, parasite culturing, immunoparasitology, and drug susceptibility testing, and is particularly skilled in the use of field-adapted molecular tools for detecting and characterizing malaria infections. He holds a Ph.D. in Medicine with a specialization in Parasitology from Kangwon National University, South Korea, and is currently a member of the Malaria Research Unit at the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), Mwanza Centre, Tanzania. He has authored over 15 peer-reviewed scientific publications and continues to contribute to the advancement of malaria research and control efforts in the region.
