Dr. Angelina M. Lutambi is a Principal Research Officer at the National Institute for Medical Research, Tanzania. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Basel, Switzerland, an MSc in Physical and Mathematical Analysis from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and a BSc. with Education from the University of Dar es Salaam. Dr. Lutambi has over 15 years of experience spread into Research, Academia, and Leadership. In leading large Institutions, until July 2022, she was serving as a Regional Administrative Secretary, an executive and presidential appointment position where was leading, administering and implementing multi-sectoral government decisions, policies, programs, service delivery, and assessment of systems performance. She has also previously worked as a Senior research scientist at the Ifakara Health Institute in Tanzania and has taught at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences and supervised postgraduate students.
She has worked on a wide range of health issues of public health importance including but not limited to HIV/AIDS, Child health, and Malaria. She has several years of experience in developing and using Mathematical, Statistical and Computational methods to provide quantitative and model-based evidence to support decision making. She has presented her work at international conferences and published in peer reviewed international journals and conference proceedings.
