Dr. Eliakimu Paul Kapyolo

Dr. Eliakimu Paul Kapyolo Biography Dr. Eliakimu Paul Kapyolo is a medical Research Officer at the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), Dodoma Centre, where he has served since 2020. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS), with research focusing on the relationship between climate change and non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes in Tanzania.
He holds an MSc in Clinical Research from Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College (KCMUCo), a Professional Diploma in Tropical Medicine from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS).
Dr. Kapyolo began his research career in infectious diseases, where he contributed to identifying and characterizing causes of non-malarial febrile illness and epidemic-prone diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, leptospirosis, and other emerging infections using immunological and molecular approaches. As a co-investigator, he has also participated in studies of major public health importance, including tuberculosis-related stigma and the burden of snakebite in Tanzania.
His current scholarly work reflects a transition toward broader population health challenges, examining how environmental stressors such as drought and food insecurity may influence diabetes and metabolic health. His research has been published in reputable international peer-reviewed journals.With multidisciplinary training spanning clinical medicine, tropical medicine, epidemiology, and public health research, Dr. Kapyolo is an emerging scientist whose work bridges infectious diseases and non-communicable diseases in the context of global health and climate change.
