Elizabeth Ntapara
Elizabeth Ntapara is a medical doctor working as a research assistant at the National Institute for Medical Research – Mbeya from January 2018 todate. She works under the HIV and Reproductive Health department engaging in Vaccine trials and Cohort studies. Prior to her current position she worked as an Intern Doctor with Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital from November 2016 to November 2017. As an intern she attended clients in departments of Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Psychiatry, Casualty, CTC (HIV/AIDS CARE AND Treatment) and participated in operational research for both clinical and public health services. As a research assistant with NIMR, she has worked on different studies that are ongoing such as HVTN 120, HVTN 703, Ebola study and PrEPVacc registration Cohort. Her roles vary from preparing and submitting Study Protocols to Ethical committees, recruiting subjects to the trial using flyers, advertisements, letters, working with physicians, pharmacists, lab staff, the sponsor, potential and enrolled subjects. She also works closely with potential subjects/participants, explaining the trial simply and answering their questions and concerns as well as checking in with them regularly to monitor compliance with the study guidelines, collecting, managing and maintaining all study related paperwork and correspondence while adhering to guidelines and GCP to ensure study procedures are carried out in accordance to applicable international standards and also according to the laws of the country. She holds Bsc in Doctor of Medicine from Kilimanjaro Christian Medical College (KCMC) class of 2011 to 2016.
