Dr. Eliakimu Paul Kapyolo
Dr. Eliakimu Paul Kapyolo is a young research scientist at the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) at Dodoma Centre since 2020, concurrently pursuing his PhD training at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS). He has a diverse academic background, including a MSc. in Clinical Research from Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College (KCMUCo), a Professional Diploma in Tropical Medicine from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a Bachelor’s degree in Doctor of Medicine from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS).
In early milestone of his research career, he focused in infectious diseases, particularly in identifying and characterizing causes of non-malaria fever and diseases with epidemic potential such as arboviruses (Dengue, Chikungunya), and Leptospirosis, utilizing immunological and molecular methods. Later as a co-investigator, he has also contributed to research projects with public health significance, including the assessment of TB-related stigma and determining the burden of snakebite in Tanzania. Notably, his research findings have been published in various reputable international peer-reviewed journals. Currently, his PhD research focuses on evaluating the impact of climate change on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), specifically diabetes.
