Nyanda Ntinginya

Nyanda Elias Ntinginya is a principal research scientist with a background as the Medical Doctor (University of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania) and holder of a Master Degree in Tropical and Infectious Diseases [University of Liverpool (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine), United Kingdom] with a PhD in Medical Research-International Health (University of Munich, Germany). He has more than 15 years of research experience in conducting TB, HIV, Emerging Diseases, NCD, Health Systems and other research engagements as a Principal Investigator, Research Leader, Investigator, Coordinator, Study Clinician at institutional and national levels in cross-functional and multicultural and international environment with multiple international and local funding bodies. He is experienced in clinical trials (drugs and vaccines), diagnostic, and implementation, operational studies mainly TB, HIV as well as research of emerging diseases including NCD (selected) with a strong expertise and experience on ICH GCP guidelines with corresponding national regulations. He is passionate about capacity building and mentoring early and mid- career researchers. He has published over 70 publications in TB (mainly), HIV, NCDs and others. He has been and continue to participate in several national, international medical research networks, committees, technical working groups etc. He is therefore well placed to engage in medical scientific mandates both locally and internationally. Currently, he is leading the NIMR Mbeya Medical Research Centre that has about 170 staff providing strategic research leadership and effective management to the Center since Oct 2018 after assuming the same duties as the Acting Center Director since July 2016.
